Orthodox Chapel to hold services at the MACC in Beaver Springs

The Orthodox Christian Chapel of the Holy Spirit will be moving to new quarters beginning this week, at the Middlecreek Area Community Center (MACC) in Beaver Springs, where it will hold a Vespers Service on Saturday at 6 p.m. and a Sunday Liturgy at 10 a.m.

The MACC is located at 67 Elm Street in Beaver Springs.

Since 2008 the Chapel has been holding services in a house in Beavertown, and the move this week comes in preparation for its planned construction of a church building in Beavertown this spring.

Services at the new location this weekend will be led by Deacon David Smith of Beavertown, in the conference room space at the MACC.

Liturgy will be followed by fellowship and coffee hour.

All are welcome to attend the services.

The Chapel is the first Orthodox Christian worship community in Snyder County, although Orthodox Christianity has a long history among immigrant groups across Pennsylvania, and has increasingly gained converts in the central Pennsylvania region. Most of the Chapel members are former Protestants who are longtime residents of Snyder County. The Orthodox Church traces its roots back directly to the earliest Christian communities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
