Join us for a Liturgy at 10 a.m. in our house chapel in Beavertown, followed by the annual Blessing of the Waters on Beaver Creek in downtown Beaver Springs (near the firehouse) at 12:30 p.m.. The Blessing of the Waters is an ancient Christian ceremony commemorating Christ’s Baptism in the River Jordan at Theopany, and is one of the major feasts celebrated by Orthodox Christians worldwide. Christ’s baptism, associated with the end of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” traditionally, symbolized bodily the blessing of Creation by the incarnate Creator God. As Orthodox Christians say in many languages worldwide at this time of year: “Christ is Baptized! In the Jordan!”
